Kaiteki [kai.te.ki] Japanese adjective: simply means comfortable, physically free and relaxed.
What a great name and concept for an aesthetic clinic and also a catchy name which piqued my interest. Well, the last facial treatment I’ve received was all the way back in February before MCO happened. So you can imagine how dull and sad my skin feels after few months of neglect. I guess neglect is a strong word because I did make it up by doing mask regularly, but it’s just not the same as a single pampering session like this. Not convinced? Well, let me take you on a tour first.
Strategically located at the centre of Petaling Jaya, Kaiteki Skin Aesthetic laser practices ‘omotenashi’ which translates into detail oriented Japanese hospitality and whole hearted customer service. Dr Jessie Lim is welcoming and friendly, and she made sure she listens to all my skin concerns (mainly pigmentations and some minor congestion) in order to customise treatments to my needs. After a detailed consultation, she recommended for me to try out the Kaiteki® Signature Facial Laser, which will address most of my concerns. It’s a multi-step treatment so I think it’s easier if I share the step-by-step with you here.
First, I was led to this transitional area to get changed and comfortable (literally) with a lovely shoulder massage to get those tired shoulders some pampering. And then off we went into the treatment room.
The very first step of the treatment involves gentle cleansing of the skin. And that is then followed by a Putrifying Facial which works like an gentle exfoliation, an infusion is apply on the face via a vacuum like handpiece. This will clear some of the blackheads and whiteheads while also take away the dead skin. There are two types of acid used on my face: lactic acid for cheeks and salicylic acid for the T zone. That was all very comfortable and soothing.
The next step was manual gentle extraction and this was the only painful part of the treatment! I was never a fan of extraction but I guess it was much needed to clear some of the congestions. For my skin, with regular laser treatment extraction is not really needed. Thankfully, this didn’t take long. After the extraction, my skin was immediately cooled down with an infusion of growth factors, which helps with hydration that is long lasting.
And we are only halfway there! The next step is actually one of my favourite treatment: ProYellow Laser. This is very effective to achieve immediate brightening and radiance. It also has deep exfoliation effect. It’s highly recommended for skin issues such as pigmentation, acne, scars, or just for brightening and rejuvenation. My eyes were covered to avoid discomfort from the bright yellow light and I could just feel some heat on my face, at times a little bit tingly, but largely very pleasant experience.
After the laser, I was treated to a facial massage and this was unlike anything I’ve experienced before. It was interesting to feel so much attention paid on the facial muscles, and it was immensely relaxing. As a singer/teacher I do exercise my facial muscles a lot and I didn’t realise how much of a difference it makes with this massage. Would definitely do this again in a heart beat!
Of course, after much manipulation on my poor skin, it’s time to cool down with a mask! This was no ordinary mask either, I was treated to Kaiteki Medical Spa’s best-selling Signature Hydroglow mask, packed with Hyaluronic Acid & Vitamin C. The mask was freezing cold which was a bonus. And I wasn’t just left alone with the mask either, oh no. I was treated to another massage, this time on my neck and shoulders. Wonderful! After the mask, it was the standard serum + sunscreen + moisturiser routine to finish off the treatment.
Immediately after the session, I could see immediate glow on my face, despite some red areas due to the heat and the extraction. There is zero downtime and I had a mild whitehead “breakout” (yes, singular) while recovering, but other than that I really love how much more radiant my skin looks! Here’s a selfie few days after the treatment.
Kaiteki Signature Facial Laser is priced at RM800, but for first trial, the price is RM600. Thank you so much for boosting my confidence via beautiful skin!
