I’ve always been very fond of Traders Hotel KL. Winding back several years ago when I was still visiting KL as a ‘tourist’, I had my birthday party at Skybar, which at the time was the most trendy bar in KL. Trendy it still is, but Yours truly has aged and do not party as hard anymore. Furthermore, Traders Hotel is blessed with one of the best views in Kuala Lumpur and it’s even more obvious when we stayed over the weekend experiencing it from multiple spots within the hotel. Many thanks to lovely Zhen for pampering us, by the way. It was a much needed break for Frank and I. Some of you might have seen an influx of my instagram posts that weekend, this was in conjunction with the TradersGlam instagram contest too.
We arrived at the hotel on a rainy Friday afternoon to check in, and found out that we were to stay at one of the Traders Club Rooms with Twin Tower view, which also entitles us to enjoy Traders Club services including the Traders Club Lounge. What a way to start the weekend! To make it even better, I found this in our room:

That’s when I know I will probably be nursing a hangover all weekend (and I did).

While Frank was suitably impressed with the cupcakes.

The King size bed can fit 3 of us comfortably. And was responsible for us missing breakfast on Saturday morning.

The Bathroom is rather spacious, with a bath tub as well as a separate shower cubicle.

The sleek executive writing desk was made full use of. Spot my ancient laptop. And of course, there is free WIFI for all hotel guests, bonus point for them. The basic necessities such as hair dryer, iron (with ironing board), mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities, premium toiletries etc are all available. I particularly liked the built-in international adaptor (many of my appliances are from Oz).
Not wasting too much time, we brought ourselves to Traders Club Lounge to enjoy the evening cocktails.

Free-flow wine/beer, finger food, hooray!
We then adjourned to Gobo Chit Chat for a festive buffet dinner. And I got to satisfy my craving of raw seafood.

The night was still young, plus we bumped into the Mongoose team as they were having their Christmas celebration at the hotel too, so a visit to Skybar was in order.

Yes, the drinking continued and we had a great night chatting away while people watching. It’s always fun to watch people trying to keep their balance while walking along the pool intoxicated.

Actually this was the real reason why we missed breakfast. Gotta love their room service menu! I had a Nasi Goreng Kampung and Frank had Vegetarian lasagna, both delicious.

We woke up to this view. What a beautiful concrete jungle we live in. Lunch was back at Gobo Chit Chat where Frank enjoyed a Pizza before heading off to work.

I reserved the bottle of Moet and Chandon for Poesy who joined me for the rest of the day/evening. We were planning to go to the spa but it was fully booked. So we decided to start drinking early. Kids, please don’t do this at home.
Then it was cocktail time again.

I brought her to the Traders Club Lounge and we got increasingly loud and obnoxious (haha, sorry!) but she managed to churn out a few cute art pieces, drawn on coasters.

By the way, the selection of finger food is quite good. The club lounge serves breakfast from 6:30-10:30am, afternoon tea from 2:30-4:30pm and cocktails from 5-7pm. You’ll never go hungry.

We also had a dinner reservation at Gobo Upstairs Lounge and Grill. I have heard good things about this restaurant from fellow food bloggers. And I echo the praises. Fabulous steaks!

Food is exquisitely done here. Shame about my food photos, which deteriorated over the night due to increasing blood alcohol level. But the dessert (warm chocolate lava) was quite memorable, considering the circumstances.
We were meant to continue our party at Skybar but both of us fell asleep after our dinner and only woke up in the morning! Epic night I tell ya. I believe Frank was quite amused when he returned from work.
Though the good thing about that (yes I can still find positives) was that we got to enjoy the sunrise and what a view that was.

It was nearing 6:30am and we decided to go for breakfast. Great decision.

The breakfast selection is wide, from general western breakfast items to congee and miso soup. It sure made us feel less sorry about ourselves.
After breakfast, we took a stroll around the hotel (including checking out the health club which is open for 24 hours — there were already people working out at that time… crazy cats), and the pool.

Well we did make it to Skybar albeit a few hours late.
The hungover cats went back to bed for a few hours before checking out of the hotel (and didn’t want to leave). Thank you Traders Hotel for a fabulous weekend. I would so do it again.

Classy!!! Food looks great, just as classy too…even the breakfast fare.
Yeap, we were treated quite well. 😀
I love Traders too… it has one of the best views in KL, and the steaks at Gobo Upstairs are divine. 🙂
We were a little bit drunk when having the steak so my memory is hazy, though I do remember it being quite tasty!
