So, I have partied at quite a few H-Artistry in my time, but this was the first time I went to a H-Artistry outside of KL and I must say that it has been such a fun experience (although not quite as fun on the way back, I leave that to your imagination but safe to say I parties hard!). Not having to worry about the travel and accommodation was also a big bonus. Though it has been a while since I’ve woken up before 7am for a flight. Haha.
The journey to Penang was quick, and we were whisked to the Press conference as soon as we landed. G Hotel was where the artists would make an appearance for some Q&As and for us to get to know them a little. While waiting for them, we were greeted by this first.

That must be the first time I’ve touched Hennessy V.S.O.P. before lunch time. Instead of having it in the long drinks, some of us tried it in our coffee (French Coffee, anyone?) and even in the ice cream (now, having ice cream in the morning surely should be illegal……) We were also served some delectable snacks along with our drinks.

And soon we were ushered to another room for the Meet & Greet session. Julie Woon was the emcee and she looked great as always.

Tada! We have 24HERBS, DJ Andy Murphy and DJ Nicole Chen in the house! The Q&As were kept very informal and the guys in 24HERBS were hilarious.

DJ Nicole Chen was up first and when asked about what she would bring to the party, she answered something along the line of “I will bring my emotions to the set” which later became a teasing point for the rest of the guys. If you don’t know who she is, well, she’s one of the most prominent Singaporean DJ and also holds the title for Miss Earth Singapore 2007.

Oh, be still, my beating heart! I know DJ Andy Murphy was blessed with good genes but to see him in flesh, wow! “Fresh out of the GQ magazine”, as Julie said. He is one of the most prolific DJs in Australia and has played in the biggest music festivals within and outside of the country. He’s not stranger to H-Artistry, having played with Taiwan just recently. Based in Melbourne, he also produces chart-toppers, and frequently graces the catwalk himself.

24HERBS actually means 廿四味, a type of Chinese herbal tea that is cooling and also iconic in Hong Kong. I guess they want us to associate them with refreshing music. With my limited exposure to Canto Pop, the fact that they rap/sing their songs in English is also a plus point. Each of them have funny nicknames, Drunk aka “Never Sober” is my favourite, “Do Yoke” (A lot of meat) is another. They also dub Julie Woon as MC JuJu which I think she should copyright soon. I can tell that they love what they are doing and the bond between the members is strong, which is the most important element being in this industry.

When the session drew to a close, some of us checked into our hotel rooms and I was super impressed with my room. Especially this view:

My only regret was that I didn’t kidnap Frank from his work to join me, as this room is gorgeous and the bed is far too big for just me.

They were also ever so thoughtful, providing us with fruit platters, chocolate and some local desserts.

Lastly, a little cheeky for a bar don’t you think?
