Word has it that Penang is now the new ‘cool’ place for party goers with many new exciting venues. The newly refurbished SPICE (Subterranean Penang International Convention and Exhibition Centre) is one example. With the capacity to house 13,000 people, this makes SPICE the perfect choice to host one of the biggest parties around (globally): H-Artistry. Expect a sensation mix of sight, sound and taste with this super-clubbing experience on the 25th May.
This would be the 6th year running for H-Artistry and there is no sign of slowing down. In fact, they always strive to outdo themselves each time and this event will be no exception. The familiar staple Hennessy Mixing Bars however will remain, and party goers will continue to enjoy the signature Hennessy V.S.O.P long drinks: Hennessy Apple, Hennessy Berry, Hennessy Ginger and Hennessy Soda.
As usual, there will be a line-up for local, regional and international acts for us to enjoy a stellar mix of music styles and genres all through the night. From Kuala Lumour’s most promising Indie/Electronic acts, to Australian DJ who has toured internationally, you’ll be in for a treat. Let’s take a look at what they have in store for this installation:
24HERBS (廿四味) – HIP HOP – HONG KONG
Starting from this unique Hip Hop group from Hong Kong, the 24HERBS (廿四味). Having released their first album in 2008, this group has since won a Hong Kong Annual Commercial Radio award in 2008 with their Hit Single “Respect Tou PK”. The album featured collaborations with various artists such as Sammi Cheng and Chermaine Fong. Their collaboration with Sammi Cheng entitled “Forgiveness” was recognized at the Hong Kong Digital Media Awards.
They have also released their second album “Bring It On”, once again featuring collaborations with the likes of Janice Vidal and Paul Wong. 24HERBS performs at various events, concerts and festivals. Not only that, they are also active in showbiz, having written and performed the theme song of the film “Once a Gangster”, which was directed by the acclaimed Felix Chong. 24HERBS also guest stared in the film itself.
As a commercial group of musicians, 24HERBS still maintains their individuality to bring a blend of edgy, distinctive and alternative music into the industry.
ANDY MURPHY – ELECTRONICA – AUSTRALIA
Andy Murphy is one of Australia’s most prolific young DJs, constantly touring the world and making appearances in clubs, events and international dance music festivals, such as Stereosonic, Future Music Festival, Summadayze, Fall Festival and Creamfields, among many others. His talent took him to International stages such as Miami, New York and Los Angeles where he played at Steve Aoki’s infamous Dim Mak. Last year, he played at the Hennessy artistry in Taiwan and collaborated with Korean-Canadian artist G.NA to deliver a show-stopping performance.
Back home, he tours the country as a part of Australia’s biggest club brand “Onelove”. His singles “Music Master” and “Reach for the Lazers” established a presence in club and dance charts upon release, quickly becoming club staples in Australia and beyond. In 2009, Andy Murphy was involved in the production of Citylife’s single “San Francisco” which received regular airplay on Nova.
NICOLE CHEN – DANCE – SINGAPORE
Known for her energetic and electrifying up-tempo electro-house / dirty-dutch sets, Nicole Chen is now one of the most prominent DJ personalities in Singapore. As a proof that she’s not just a pretty face, the former Miss Earth Singapore 2007 found her calling in electronic dance music and honed her DJing craft for six years, a journey which took her from Singapore to Melbourne, Sydney and eventually New York City, where she immersed herself in music production at Dubspot, known for being the world’s premier electronic music and DJ school in the world.
Her outstanding talent and ear for music has taken her around the world to play at festivals, VIP events, clubs and openings. Her portfolio includes opening for huge international names which include Steve Aoki, Benny Benassi, Felix the Housecat and more.
ALEX ASQUARED – INDIE / DISCO / DANCE – KUALA LUMPUR (OPENING ACT)
As for our very own act from KL, Alex Asquared, part of Deer Society will be getting the party started. No stranger to KL’s events and clubs, Deer Society prides themselves with their distinctive indie and nu-disco sets, taking on the role of a “culture collective”. Individually, Asquared is known for his versatility in delivering cross genre sets that are unique and madly appealing. His signature beats cover the genres of nu-disco, ghetto, indie-dance and tech house, a fantastic addition to H-Artistry’s Global Art of Mixing platform.
Needless to say, there will be several measures implemented for the event to discourage drink driving. Past H-Artistry saw Party buses and subsidised Taxi services as well as complimentary mineral water bottles. These initiatives will be continued and further improved for H-Artistry 2013.
Want to join the coolest party of the year?
As always, entry to H-Artisty is by invite only. However, you’ll be able to get your passes from the H-Artistry Ambassadors stationed at selected outlets by participating in the ongoing Hennessy V.S.O.P bottle promotions.

Ya see you there! 🙂
Have fun! Don’t drink and drive! Take a cab…but Penang cabbies daylight robbers one – anywhere in the city centre, RM15…to Queensbay, over RM30 and to Batu Ferringhi, over RM100. They do not go by meter one. That was a few years ago when I used to drop by quite frequently – hope they’ve changed that now.
We are being flown there so there will be no driving. Pretty sure the transport to/fro hotel will be arranged.
Hehehhe to the rockstar life!
Have tonnes of fun there girl!
Not looking forward to the 8am flight that’s for sure.
fly in in the morning, party at night, fly back the next day? Sounds like rock star life! 😀
