Responsible Blogging Campaign by Crowdpot and Ninetology [ADV]

Since the popularisation of blogs in the early 2000s, to date almost every Tom, Dick, and Harry (and their cats) owns a blog. There is a plethora of blogs with various contents out there, from personal online diaries to professionally edited multi-author blogs. Unfortunately, among the mixture there are also bloggers who don’t do the right thing. Which is why, today I’m going to talk about Responsible blogging.

What is Responsible Blogging?

No fat cat was harmed during the filming of this video (and she doesn’t have a blog). And I look like a dork.

There are a few golden rules we should follow when we blog. I’m sure all of us are aware of the copyright’s law but how many of us know we could actually be sued for copyright infringement if the credits weren’t given when they are due? Our blogs represent us, so it’s important to provide accurate information and not mislead others. When we are doing sponsored posts (like this one), make sure they are labeled accordingly to be completely transparent to the readers. Lastly, be open minded to readers opinions, not everyone shares the same views about certain things, write a disclaimer if you need to, especially when you feel strongly about an issue.

Responsible blogging is important because proper blogging behaviour will ensure more credibility and integrity for everyone. In short, it will make the “blogosphere” a better place.
