Coming Christmas time, we are always spoilt for choice with the amount of restaurant offering their festive menus. If you are looking for a value-for-money deal, you might want to check out Chicago Rib House’s Christmas Menu, with 4 courses pricing at RM79.90+ only.

Chicago Rib House is located right next to La Senza in One Utama. You can also find a few other branches in Leisure Mall Cheras, and Penang’s Gurney Plaza. It’s known for all things porky, especially the pork ribs. And during this Christmas, the menu is slightly glam-ed up to tantalise our tastebuds.

For the welcome drink, choose between the slightly alcoholic Peach Bellini, non alcoholic Christmas Berry Delight and Mint Lemonade.

Fresh peach juice with sparkling wine is a refreshing combination and it’s not surprisingly that I liked this one the best.

This bright coloured mocktail is more appealing to those with a sweet tooth and preference to red cordial.

Didn’t mind the Mint Lemonade but still slightly too sweet for my liking.

We started off our meal with this fabulous crab and cod crostini. A squeeze of lime juice to freshen it up, this has a lovely texture and tasted quite fresh, with a hint of cheese (parmesan). I love the addition of creamy avocado to balance off the savoury soft seafood spread.

Fresh salad leaves and yellow zucchini toss with tangy sweet pomegranate dressing, accompanied with feta cheese and honey roasted pecan nuts. All my favourite things. This one gets the double thumbs up for clean and refreshing flavours.

There are 3 main courses available for you to pick, and we got to try all of them in smaller portions. The Roasted Whole Turkey Leg is classically Christmas with garden variety roasted vegetables and creamy mash potato, accompanied with cranberry jelly and classic brown sauce. Unfortunately this one fell short as the meat has already dried up a tad when we got to sample it. However, we gave the feedback to the kitchen so hopefully, you’ll get better tender turkey leg. By the way, the whole leg is much bigger than what you see in the picture, almost the size of my forearm.

We were told that Chicago Rib House is the only restaurant here with access to the special Arabica coffee, and the kitchen has spent hours perfecting the sauce and what you get is a strong aroma of coffee pairing with tender pork. It’s as addictive as it sounds. I hope this gets to stay on their regular menu. The full sized baby back ribs is at least triple this, and is served with roast vegetables and a very cheesy slice of potato tartin. Yum.

It’s hard to get Roast Pork Belly wrong, and this is executed well with classic pairing of pork and apples, elevated by a touch of sage. The accompanying tangy apple compote and red wine reduction hit the right spots. The pork belly itself has a good ratio of fat and meat. This is my favourite main course out of 3. You get 2 more slices of pork belly on a full size plate. Comes with the same cheesy potato tartin.

For dessert, a homemade pumpkin tart with crisp shortcrust pastry and soft creamy pumpkin filling that tastes surprisingly light, much to my relief. Skip the strawberry coulis if you don’t want to overload your system with sugar. A lovely ending to our meal.
