We have a designated dessert eater at home. And that’s not me. I like my sweet treats in small amounts but Frank can inhale a few Magnums at once (6 in total), so I discovered last Wednesday night at the Magnum preview party. Need to bring him to a glucose tolerance test soon I think.

When I received the invitation from Miss Carole, I immediately saw that the venue is my new found love Renoma Cafe Gallery. How to say no? As for Frank, I had him at Ice cream. So we braved the after work traffic (as usual) and surprisingly arrived quite early. There was a little bet going on between me and the taxi driver, he managed to avoid most of traffic jam, we were impressed.

Ok we didn’t arrive THAT early. This photo was taken from Magnum’s facebook page. Doesn’t the place look beautiful? Frank was a little too excited about the photo wall and very quickly picked out something for us to hold.

Magnum threw this party for us to taste the 2 new flavours that are not yet in Malaysian’s market. How nice of them! The 2 new flavours are Chocolate Brownie and Chocolate & Strawberry. Besides free-flowing ice cream (can you say AWESOME?), there are few fun activities going on in different areas of the restaurant. The cupcake decorating station was set up with Nigel of just heavenly cakes himself (and his infectious personality) manning the stall. I took the opportunity to show off practise my skills.

The first cupcake was promptly devoured by Frank (I told you he’s a dessert monster) before I could take a close up picture. It literally vanished just when I turned around to take my camera out. So I did another one and went colour crazy.

There were also manicurists waiting to paint our nails with chocolate inspired designs. Xandria Ooi was hosting the party and there were goodies being handed out all night.

We were encouraged to tweet as much as possible and look what the competitive streak did to me. There was a mini contest where we had to tweet right after Xandria and guess who came first? Hehe. While I was having my nails done too. So kiasu right? The prizes are really cute, they are mini Magnum shaped USB pen drives (all 4 of them) as well as a Sennheiser earphones.

After all the fussing about, finally the waiters brought out the main attraction of the night. The Magnum Ice Cream!

I know many people went a little nuts over these. I only tried the Chocolate & Strawberry as I know I can’t have more than one. Chocolate does evil things to my throat and I had to sing quite a bit last weekend (and actually had a rehearsal after that party). I like that you can taste real strawberry flavour and the chocolate coating is lovely and smooth.

It was nice to catch up with the girls too.

Magnum didn’t only allow us to have unlimited ice cream that night, we were also encouraged to take some home with us. What? I heard Mike Yip took about 10908470 of them. LOL! We only took 8 (why, Frank, why?) and distributed them to my band mates (translate: I’m a nice band leader) and his staff at the pub (he’s a nice boss). Next time imma compete with Mike.

So I heard that these two flavours are going to be available in early March, so keep an eye out for them!
